Great place for a beer and even a snack. Stein Haus recently sold and is not currently open but I have heard that the new owner intends to open soon and will carry on the German tradition of the restaurant. I hope the new owner continues to have music several nights a week as did the former owner.
Absolutely loved our first trip to Stein Haus! Great atmosphere, friendly staff and reasonable prices on beer :)
I have been a customer of the Steinhaus for the better part of 20 years. I am very disappointed to see their new menu and the total change in the customer service. Frankly Elaine I think it's time to close or develop a new business. To have a restaurant with such great history and atmosphere and on a event night like tall ships to experience what we experience is just sad.
What we expected was a kind of lame German restaurant. What we got was entirely different. Wish the food was a touch better, but the beer, ambiance, and the live band that night made up for it.
I ate here at the Stein Haus for the first time with my lovely bride. We enjoyed the meals and the warm hospitality. We were here on a Sunday. The live music was very enjoyable. The atmosphere was old world European.
Beer steins adorn the shelves and ceilings and they earn the right to do so with a great selection of local and international drafts. Schnitzel was great, shrimp was awful. There was a Celtic-style band playing on a Tuesday night, so that was fun, but it slowed down the service a bit.
Checked this place out while in town on a trip to see family. None of us had been here before. But if I make the 12 hour trip again...I'll be back!!! Nice atmosphere, good Brews to pick from. The schinzel was Awesome with their gravy and homemade red cabbage. Very worth the stop in to enjoys some eats and Brews
Food is fantastic and the staff is always friendly. With lots of different beers on draft it makes this the best place in Bay City if you're a beer lover. Coconut shrimp is highly recommended!
